During the first year of Dumbstruck, all of the comics I made about war were completely reactionary to events as they took place, without much attention paid to recording those events. I’ve created this strip as a way to bridge that gap, so a casual reader can mark the important events that happen and have context for when a strip comes along as a comment on these events. The inspiration to frame it around the prevailing media bias of the time comes from a news article I found about a speech CNN’s founder Ted Turner gave in April of ’03 condemning Fox News for being warmongering, even though CNN was doing the exact same thing.
