I tried to make the art in the strip look similar to some of my early strips. It’s important to me that this prologue not have a jarring transition into the main chronology. It’s fascinating to me to see how I’ve changed drawing styles over the last decade.
This is a tough time in my life to revisit, but it’s something I think is important to explore in order to know what kind of place I was in mentally and emotionally by the time we get to the spring of 2003, 18 months later. In the next few strips, we’ll do some funny stuff. I promise.
