This strip is a bit redundant, but it was the first strip to appear in The Chronicle in 2004, so it also served as a bit of a catchup in case anybody had missed what was going on. This updated version also includes Kate; the original just featured James and David.
A fun bit of trivia: when I originally made this, the maps of Chicago and Atlanta we scanned from a road atlas I had purchased for my northeastern road trip in 2002. This was long before Google Maps existed. When I revisited the strip to add Kate, I had long since discarded that atlas, but this time the power of Google image search came to the rescue to give me a very similar map. We definitely live in the future!
