In hindsight, I guess those handles are just there to hang on to so that the person wouldn’t accidentally get their hands pinched in the chains. Which means that somebody else has to do the pushing. And which only reinforces Kate’s comment.

  1. Just FYI and to restore your faith in the future: Those swings are for kids who can’t move their legs. The seat and belt make sure they don’t fall off (you actually use pressure from legs in order to stay on a normal swing) and the handles give them a way to “push” themselves once an adult gets them going.
